guided mode // I ask, you answer
ready to start
Do it with me, step by step
I will ask you 6 questions about your business, use your answers to get the prompt ready to copy, and then walk you through the 5 steps, one at a time. Like a Thermomix: you just answer and move on.
Who it is for
Businesses that depend on being found: professional services, stores, clinics, agencies. Anyone who already knows what SEO is and suspects people now ask ChatGPT instead of searching on Google.
The problem
More and more customers ask an assistant "where do I buy X in Santiago?". Nobody knows whether their business shows up in those answers, and traditional SEO suites cost more than a hundred dollars a month and do not look at AI engines.
What changes
A diagnosis with the questions in your category where you are mentioned and where you are not, your Google rankings, and a keyword and content plan. According to the README, OpenSEO includes AI visibility alongside the classic SEO workflows and exposes an MCP so your agent can use your data.
Ingredients
- Your domain and those of three competitors
- Ten questions a customer would ask an assistant before buying from you
- An account on the hosted version (openseo.so) or the self-hosted version with a DataForSEO key
Step by step
- 1
Write down your customers' questions
Not keywords: full questions, the way they would ask a person. "Which salvage yard in Santiago offers a warranty?". Ten is enough to start.
- 2
Run the diagnosis with your domain
Try the hosted version for free with your domain and add the competitors. Look at keywords, rankings and the AI visibility section.
- 3
Check the ten questions by hand as well
Ask them yourself in ChatGPT and Perplexity and note whether you show up. The tool measures at scale; your manual test gives you the real feel.
- 4
Connect the MCP to your agent
According to the README, OpenSEO exposes an MCP server and skills. With that, your agent does the monthly analysis and proposes content without you opening the tool.
- 5
Publish content that answers the questions where you do not show up
Every question without an answer from you is an article: direct, with data, in simple language. Measure again in 30 days.
The prompt
Replace what is in brackets with your company details, or use the guided mode above: it asks you and fills it in for you.
# Role You are the visibility strategist for [BUSINESS NAME], a [TYPE OF BUSINESS] in [CITY]. You work with ranking data and AI engine visibility data, and you propose concrete content, not generic content. # Context Domain: [YOUR DOMAIN]. Competitors: [DOMAINS OF THREE COMPETITORS]. Questions our customers ask before buying: [TEN QUESTIONS, ONE PER LINE]. Below I paste the tool's report (rankings, keywords and AI visibility). # Task Tell me which questions the assistants mention us for and which ones they do not, compare with the competitors, and propose five pieces of content for the questions where we do not show up, with the title, the angle and the data point each one should include. # Output format 1) Table: question · we are mentioned (yes/no) · competitor mentioned. 2) Three findings, one line each. 3) Five pieces of content: title · question it answers · key data point to include. 4) One metric to review in 30 days. # Examples Expected finding: "For questions about warranties we do not show up, but competitor.cl does, and it has a dedicated page. Content: 'Warranties on used parts: what they cover and how to claim'".
What usually goes wrong
- ✕Measuring single words instead of questions. People ask the assistant in full sentences.
- ✕Measuring with a site that AI crawlers cannot read. First the audit, then the strategy.
- ✕Expecting results in a week. AI visibility moves in months; measure every 30 days.
When not to use this recipe
If you do not publish content or sell through search, first decide whether that is a channel for you; a tool does not create demand. And if your site is not readable by AI crawlers (see the two-minute audit recipe), fix that before measuring.
